विश्व में सीसा व जस्ता को जुड़वा खनिज के नाम से जानते है। खनिज पदार्थों की दृष्टि से भारत का छोटा नागपुर का पठार समृद्ध है। संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में बूटे की पहाड़ी को प्रथ्वी की सबसे धनी पहाड़ी मानी जाती है। कनाडा को यूरेनियम सिटी स्थापित करने का श्रेय दिया जाता हैं। विश्व में कनाडा के पास यूरेनियम का विशाल भण्डार है। मोलिबडेनम खनिज को आण्विक खनिज के नाम से जाना जाता है। सिलिकॉन घाटी केलिफोर्निया में स्थित है। जर्मनी का रूरबेसिन प्रसिद्ध ओद्योगिक क्षेत्र है। विश्व में सूती वस्त्रों का अग्रणी उत्पादक देश चीन है। वेनेजुएला विश्व का प्रमुख खनिज तेल उत्पादक देश है।

विश्व में कोयला उत्पादन डोनबास देश में अधिक होता है। विश्व में स्वर्ण उत्पादक देश आस्ट्रेलिया के कूलगार्डी और दक्षिणी अफ्रीका के जोहान्सबर्ग को माना जाता है।

सर्वोत्तम प्रकार का कोयला एंथ्रेसाइट को माना जाता है।भूरा कोयला के रूप में प्रसिद्ध कोयला लिग्नाइट है। पीट को निम्न स्तर का कोयला माना जाता है। विश्व में हीरा दक्षिणी अफ्रीका के किंबरले में पाया जाता है। विश्व में कोयला जिम्बाब्वे के बांकी में पाया जाता हैं। भारत में यूरेनियम जादूगोड़ा में पाया जाता है। भारत में कोयला रानीगंज में अधिक पाया जाता है।
