विश्व का सबसे बड़ा दीपों का समूह इंडोनेशिया है। विश्व का सबसे बड़ा द्वीप ग्रीनलैंड द्वीप है। विश्व का सबसे बड़ा नदी द्वीप मजूली, ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी, आसाम में है।

न्यूमर मालदीव हिंद महासागर में स्थित है। बरमूडा द्वीप बंगाल की खाड़ी में स्थित है। हवाई द्वीप समूह प्रशांत महासागर में स्थित है। हवाई द्वीप समूह को प्रशांत महासागर के चौराहे के उपनाम से जाना जाता है।

प्रशांत महासागर में द्वीपों की संख्या सर्वाधिक है। जापान का सबसे बड़ा द्वीप होंशू द्वीप है। फिजी द्वीप पश्चिमी प्रशांत महासागर में स्थित है। लक्ष्यद्वीप का प्रकार कोरल निर्मित प्रवाल द्वीप है। सेशेल्स द्वीप हिंद महासागर में स्थित है।

डियगोगार्सिया द्वीप हिंद महासागर में स्थित है। विश्व का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा द्वीप न्यूगिनी  द्वीप है। फाकलैंड द्वीप दक्षिणी अटलांटिक महासागर में स्थित है। लक्ष्यदीप अरब सागर में स्थित है। ग्रीनलैंड द्वीप डेनमार्क देश का अंग है। कोर्सिका द्वीप नेपोलियन बोनापार्टे से संबंधित है। अंडमान द्वीप समूह के निकट म्यांमार देश स्थित है।

बैरन द्वीप बंगाल की खाड़ी में स्थित है।अंडमान और निकोबार दीप समूह बंगाल की खाड़ी में स्थित है। जावा और सुमात्रा द्वीप इंडोनेशिया में हैं। दस डिग्री चैनल अंडमान को निकोबार द्वीप से पृथक करता है। श्रीहरिकोटा द्वीप समूह पुलिकट झील के समीप बंगाल की खाड़ी में स्थित है।

सालसेट या साष्टी द्वीप पर मुंबई शहर बसा हुआ है। हिंद महासागर का सबसे बड़ा द्वीप मेडागास्कर है। बैरन आईलैंड अंडमान निकोबार दीप समूह कहलाते हैं। श्रीहरिकोटा द्वीप का निर्माण प्रवाल भित्ति से हुआ है। भारत के अंतर्गत कुल 247 द्वीप आते हैं।

विश्व का सबसे बड़ा प्रायद्वीप अरब प्रायद्वीप है। विश्व का सबसे छोटा द्वीप बिशप रॉक द्वीप है। सैंडविच हवाई द्वीप का पुराना नाम है। जकार्ता जावा द्वीप पर स्थित है। जापान का सबसे छोटा द्वीप शिकोकू द्वीप है। जावा द्वीप को इंडोनेशिया का हृदय स्थल कहा जाता है।

एशिया का सबसे बड़ा द्वीप बोर्नियो द्वीप है। भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच विवाद कच्चा तिवू द्वीप पर है। जंजीबार तथा पेंबा द्वीप तंजानिया देश के तट पर स्थित है। माल्टा द्वीप भूमध्य सागर में स्थित है। मिंदनाओ द्वीप फिलीपींस से संबंधित है।

जापान का नागासाकी नगर  क्यूशू द्वीप पर स्थित है। नार्वे के निकट स्थित छोटे-छोटे दीपो को स्फेरी गार्ड कहा जाता है। भारत का सबसे बड़ा द्वीप माजुली द्वीप है। भारत का सबसे छोटा द्वीप उमानंदा द्वीप है।
